Geezer's last visit to the blog was March 13th. To bring things up to date:

* Karl Rove continues to polish his persuasive impression of evil incarnate.
* Judith Miller continues her prison sentence for not revealing her source for an article she didn't write.
* Robert Novak continues to pundit freely while not revealing his White House source illegally outing C.I.A. agent Valerie Plame in a column he did write.
* Harvard President Lawrence Summers continues to open his mouth only to change feet.
* Rush Limbaugh continues to call everyone to his left "America haters".
* Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe continues to call global warming "a hoax".
* The new Pope continues to deny eccesiastical equality to women and gays.
* And George W. Bush, who signed off on the executions of well over 200 inmates while governor of Texas, initiated an unnecessary war that has thus far resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, and sanctioned interrogation techniques that have resulted in still more deaths, asserted that the Terry Schiavo case made clear that "we must always err on the side of life."

The Hudson River town of Fishkill derives its name from two words in the language of the early Dutch settlers, "vis" for "fish" and "kill" for stream. Karin Robertson, fish empathy project manager for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), has renewed its call for the town to change its name to "FishingHurts.com. Two years ago, PETA offered $15,000 worth of vegetable patties if the upstate town of Hamburg changed its name to "Veggieburg". There is no information about similar PETA approaches to the authorities of Otterkill and Beaverkill in the Catskills.

Yet another Constitutional amendment banning flag burning is working its way through Congress and appears to have the votes this time. Try to guess the approved method for dispatching worn, aged, or damaged flags.

TROTSKY
Essentially a cross between a Margarita and a Cosmo, you probably have the ingredients at hand for this cocktail. Serves one.

3 ounces tequila
1 ounce triple sec
2 pounces cranberry juice
1and 1/2 ounces lemon or lime juice
Salt (optional)

Pour all ingredients over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake. If desired, run a piece of lemon or lime around the outer rim of a martini glass and press into a dish of salt. Garmish with a slice of lemon or lime.

BLOCK ISLAND STRIPED BASS PROVENCAL
This also works well with bluefish. Serves 4-6.

1 medium onion, finely chopped
Olive oil
4 large garlic cloves (or more to taste), minced
2 tablespoons capers, drained
1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup white wine
Juice of one lemon
2 pounds striped bass fillets

Pre-heat oven at 400 degrees. Saute onions in oil over medium heat until soft, about five minutes. Add garlic and saute another minute. Add the capers, tomatoes, olives, and wine, and bring to a boil. Add lemon juice, stir, and pour over the fish fillets in a baking dish. Bake in oven for 12-15 minutes.
